The following e-mail was sent out to all London students mid-afternoon yesterday by our Program Director.
To All London Program Students, I would like to begin by wishing you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. We wish you to enjoy the day but also to act responsibly. We have every confidence that our students will act responsibly today, as usual, However, it has come to my attention that some seriously irresponsible behaviour has taken place today. Do remember that you are all representatives of Notre Dame and America, as student guests in the UK. To ensure that no additional problems occur, I am issuing the following firm regulations. Please note that the Rectors have my full authority in enforcing them: 1) This morning’s behaviour at Kamen-Minerva was unacceptable. Apologies had to be made to neighbours in the area about the noise levels early in the morning. Any repeat problems of this sort today will incur a fine to the entire flat (£20/person?), even if some flat members are not making the noise. They can settle where the money actually comes from amongst themselves, but if no money is paid, it will be put on student accounts as £20/person, noise violation. 2) Any absences from class tomorrow will *require* a doctor’s note to be excused. A hangover is not a reason to miss class. 3) It should go without saying that noisy or inebriated behaviour in classes will result in dismissal from class for the day and an unexcused absence. 4) All noise rules will be in force this evening, with a reminder that quiet hours begin at midnight. Having made these regulations clear to everyone, I would like to conclude by wishing everyone an enjoyable AND responsible St. Patrick’s Day. Sincerely, Greg Kucich
